Chevy Bolt EV sales are still steadily climbing – now reaching new monthly record in the US

GM’s all-electric vehicle, the Chevy Bolt EV, just had another new record month for sales in the US as sales have steadily climbed throughout now its first full year of production.

It took GM about a year to get there but with sales of the Chevy Bolt EV slowly rising over the last few months, it has now reached the planned volume of just over 30,000 units per year.

GM says that it delivered a total of 2,781 Bolt EVs in the US in October.

It’s just about 150 units more than its previous record achieved last month.

A look at US deliveries over the last year shows a clear progression stabilizing around the current level comfortably closing in on 3,000 units per month:

It makes sense since the Chevy Bolt EV is now ‘officially available’ in every state in the US and the car has been in production for almost a year.

While overall deliveries in the US are looking good, some buyers still had difficulties getting their hands on the car in several markets. Dealers in California had more than decent inventories with the best prices, but we have also heard great deals in other markets recently, like leases for less than $200 per month in Massachusetts. You can always check with your local dealers for inventory and see if you can find a deal.

It looks like GM is reaching its production limit with the Bolt EV. In Europe, where it is sold as the Ampera E, they have asked dealers to stop taking orders for the all-electric car as supply can’t match demand.

GM relies heavily on LG for the production of the car since the Korean electronics giant produces several key components for the Bolt EV.

But the American automaker is also planning to expand its overall EV lineup. It recently confirmed that it plans to launch 2 new all-electric cars within 18 months “based on the Bolt platform” and 20 more within the next 5 years.
