Just a few weeks after launching the next generation Leaf, which was arguably Nissan’s biggest move into electrification since the launch of the original Leaf in 2011, the Japanese automaker is about to move big on EV again at the Tokyo Motor Show this week.
Nissan made it clear that it plans to bring a lot of EVs at the show, which starts on Wednesday for the press.
Most of them are just going to be new versions of the automaker’s existing lineup, but they are also expected to unveil for the first time a long-awaited all-electric CUV based on the next-generation Leaf platform.
The company has been teasing a CUV on social media leading up to the show.
We haven’t seen much yet aside from the image seen above and this video of a model being sculpted by robots:
Nissan didn’t reveal anything else about the vehicle, but it is likely going to be the long-rumored crossover/compact utility electric vehicle that was long expected to follow the Leaf.
Aside from this all-new vehicle, Nissan is also bringing a sexier-looking all-electric next-gen Leaf with a Nismo upgrade to the Tokyo Motor Show this week.
Finally, they are also bringing a new concept for a refrigerated electric delivery van based on the e-NV200 vehicle. They released several images of the concept already:

Apparently, they plan to make the system available to commercial customers. Ashwani Gupta, senior vice president of the Renault-Nissan LCV Business Unit, said:
“The e-NV200 Fridge Concept will create huge value for commercial users – generating more business, as well as reducing the cost of ownership. With zero emissions, it’ll be perfect for busy urban environments where larger vehicles are often prohibited.”
Earlier this month, Nissan launched a new version of the e-NV200 equipped with the same 40 kWh battery pack released with the next-gen Leaf.
The e-NV200 Fridge Concept is a little different since they had to adapt the battery modules to fit the requirements of the refrigeration system. A 24 kWh battery pack is used to power the vehicle while another 12 kWh battery pack is dedicated to the refrigeration system.
