Tesla says ‘Model 3 invitations arriving soon’ for early reservation holders

Ahead of the Model 3 launch tomorrow, Tesla updated the ‘MyTesla’ page of Model 3 reservation holders – giving a hint at the soon-to-be-released ordering process.

While hundreds of thousands of people placed deposits to reserve the Model 3, those are only reservations until they can access the online design studio and configure the vehicle to place an order.

During previous vehicle releases, like the Model X, Tesla gradually invited reservation holders to configure their vehicle based on where they are located and how early they placed their reservation.

Tesla updated today the ‘MyTesla’ page of Model 3 reservation holders to add that ‘invitation is arriving soon’ and change the render.

Here’s my reservation as an example:

It’s not clear if the invitation is in reference to having access to the configurator or an actual invitation to test drive the vehicle.

Tesla has been working on a test fleet of Model 3 vehicles to provide test drives to reservation holders during the quarter.

Interestingly, Tesla also apparently changed the reservation dates. For example, I reserved on 3/31/2016, the day of the unveiling, and my reservation is now listed as 4/1/2016.

Hopefully, it doesn’t affect the delivery. Let us know in the comment section below if your date changed too.

As we reported yesterday, Tesla is first prioritizing Model 3 deliveries to employees, but as it ramps up production over the next few months, regular reservation holders should start having access to orders.

We should have a lot more information tomorrow. I am writing this from a plane in flight to San Francisco in order to attend the event. I’ll report back so stay tuned.
