Toyota and Renault to unveil new electric vehicle concepts at the Geneva Motor Show

Automakers will be going to Geneva in the next two weeks for the 87th Geneva International Motor Show. A few of them have announced that they will bring new electric vehicle concepts to the trade show.

Toyota confirmed that it will premiere the “i-TRIL Concept”, which sounds like a bigger and more advanced version of its i-road concept.

The Japanese automaker only released a teaser – pictured above – and a brief mention in their press release for the show:

“Developed by Toyota Motor Europe (TME) in collaboration with the company’s ED² design studio in Nice, this electric motor powered concept showcases numerous innovative aspects of Toyota’s research into ever better and more engaging environmentally-friendly mobility solutions.”

Renault is the automaker unveiling an EV in Geneva and we know nothing about it.

They simply included a reference to an “EV surprise” in their own press release for Geneva:

“Renault, Europe’s number one electric vehicle brand, takes the wraps off an EV surprise.”

While we don’t have our hopes up in the case of Toyota since those “i” mobility concepts that they have been showing for years have never made it to market, there’s still hope that Renault’s vehicle will be aimed at commercialization.

Though the French automaker had another EV concept last year, the all-electric GT concept ‘Trezor’‘, which doesn’t look like it’s anywhere close to production.

It looks pretty cool though:

We will be covering the EVs coming out of Geneva next month so stay tuned.
