Tesla offers new ‘Founders series’ red Powerwall 2 signed by Elon Musk as new referral prize

When Tesla announced its latest round of its referral program last month, the company revealed prizes for obtaining 2, 3, 5 and 10 qualifying referrals. The company has now updated the list of prizes to add one for 7+ qualifying referrals: a new ‘Founders series’ red Powerwall 2 signed by Tesla’s top brass.

The few Tesla owners who manage to refer 7 or more new buyers for the Model S or X between October 16 and January 15, 2017 will receive the special home battery pack, which will not be available to the public, according to Tesla.

Here’s the definition of the new prize:

“Those who make 7 or more qualifying referrals will receive an exclusive red Founders Series Powerwall 2.0, hand signed by Elon Musk, JB Straubel, and Franz von Holzhausen. This limited edition Powerwall is not available to the public.”

Tesla’s new Powerwall is expected to enter production at the end of December.

I am not sure what to think of the red color. When Tesla unveiled the first generation Powerwall, it was displayed in several different colors, including red like pictured above, but every unit that we have seen installed since have been white.

It’s an easier color to match. A red box would stand out on house, but that’s also a matter of personal taste and opinion. I am sure some people would like it.

Since Tesla unveiled the second generation Powerwall (Powerwall 2), it has only been seen in white at the unveiling event and in promotional pictures:

But the rarity factor and the fact that it is signed by CEO Elon Musk, CTO JB Straubel, and Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, certainly compensate for any reservation that you could have over the color. And if you were aiming for the 10 qualifying referrals level anyway, it’s pretty much a free Powerwall.
