BMW and VW installed 95 DC fast-charging stations in the US with ChargePoint

BMW and VW in partnership with ChargePoint, an electric charging station operator, announced that they completed the installation of 95 DC fast-charging stations in the US as part of a program launched last year.

The new network of charging stations covers heavily-trafficked corridors on the East and West Coasts. Primarily the Interstate 95 on the East Coast and the Interstate 5 and Highway 101 on the West Coast.

Chargepoint installed the chargers approximately 50 miles apart along those routes and also within the metro areas of the larger cities.

Each station is either equipped with 50kW or 24kW DC Fast charging with the SAE Combo connectors. While BMW and VW contributed to expanding this network to serve BMW i3 and Volkswagen e-Golf owners, it is accessible to any EV driver with the ChargePoint mobile app or a ChargePoint card, or for BMW drivers, a ChargeNow card.

Drivers can locate the new stations through the ChargePoint mobile app or website.

ChargePoint released an infographic for a quick summary of the network:
