Following the unveiling of an updated version of its Model S earlier this week, Tesla has been contacting current Model S owners to invite them to a new event series called “Tesla Weekend Social”.
While the company says this month’s events will focus on Tesla’s ‘Summon’ feature, it will likely be a good occasion to showcase the updated Model S to current owners potentially looking to upgrade their vehicle.
Tesla describes the event in an email blast sent out yesterday:
“This new event series was designed exclusively for owners. Over a light breakfast, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with Tesla product experts, learn more about latest product features and speak with fellow owner enthusiasts. We look forward to seeing you this month as we take a closer look at Summon.”
The Summon feature allows Tesla owners to remotely move their vehicle without anyone in it. It is primarily used to move the Model S, and now Model X, in and out of a garage autonomously.
While the feature is currently very limited, Tesla CEO Elon Musk described the release as “first baby step” of the ‘Summon’ capability and sees a future potential for summoning your car from across the country.

Tesla needs to add features to the Model S such as a 100 KWh battery, multiple cameras and radar for improved autopilot functionality. Interior need to be updated with ventilated seats. Arm rests in the rear seats, etc.
Just changing the cone is not enough to make me upgrade.
