Tesla’s latest update turns the road into Mario Kart-style rainbows [Easter Egg Video]

Tesla pushed a new update to its fleet this weekend (7.1.2.16.17). There’s no new release notes since the latest ‘Summon’ update and we have yet to see a report showing any significant improvement or new features. Although, the update appears to contain a new Easter Egg.

The automaker is known for often hiding Easter Eggs in its software updates. Here are some of the most recent ones:

The latest hidden feature is particularly amusing. It changes the animation of the road detected by the Autopilot to a Mario Kart-style rainbow road. Here’s a video posted by a Model S P85D owner earlier today:

We haven’t tested it ourselves yet and it isn’t clear how to activate it. It is reportedly intermittent and only for a short period of time after activating the Autopilot as seen in the video.

    Activate autopilot then pull back in Rapid succession five times on the autopilot stalk.

    Engage autopilot , then pull the stalk torward s you give times rapidly.
